Why an alpaca show?

An alpaca show is a social event. It is the ideal opportunity for alpaca owners to meet and exchange views with each other.

It is also the best way to promote alpacas and, for those who do not know alpacas, they have an opportunity to get to know them.

Furthermore, the alpaca show is a good way to compare animals and to see what can increase their value. You can see and admire the perfect conformation and the perfect fleece and, if you have both on the same animal you may find that you have the champion that we all want!

For the novice alpaca owner it is the ideal place to learn. You can compare a number of alpacas and assess their positive and negative points. After judging, an explanation will be given as to why a certain animal was placed above another. This is invaluable as in the future you will be better equipped to assess an animal before purchase.

Attending international shows gives you the chance to see a wide range of animals but also to meet others from different areas and you can always learn something new.

For more experienced exhibitors a show provides a good measure by which to assess their own animals and those purchase. A homebred animal that performs well is of course much more satisfying than a purchased one. The more shows we attend the better the animals will be and the greater the interest in the show with more evenly matched, better quality animals. An alpaca show is always worth a visit.
